Endrup Mill Fish Farm

The 1 m high weir at Endrup Mill Fish Farm. - Photo: Hans Ole HansenThe present 1 m high weir at Endrup Mill Fish Farm, supplying water for the fish farm production, totally blocks the free migration of most fish species in River Sneum Å.

W
ith the Houting-project the fish farm will be purchased and the weir dismantled.

Ortho-photo of Endrup Mill Fish Farm year 2002. The red dot indicates the location of the weir. The 1 m difference in water levels will be equalised by two 6-10 m wide stone and gravel riffles with a gradient of 4-5 ‰ and a total length of approx. 300 m . The houting - and all other fish species – will thereby gain unhindered access to approx. 2.5 km watercourse upstream the present fish farm and up to Hjortkær Fish Farm.

Furthermore the closure of the fish farm will result in a significant reduction of pollution loads to River Sneum Å and the Wadden Sea . This will further contribute to the improvement of the habitat conditions for houting downstream the fish farm.
