Hjortvad Stream - riffles

Hjortvad Stream is a tributary to River Ribe Å. - Photo: Hans Ole HansenHjortvad Å is a tributary running to River Ribe Å just downstream Ribe town.

In 1987 six concrete obstacles were removed and made into riffles in the lower part of the watercourse.

However, today there are still two riffles with high gradients above 10 ‰ impeding the houting from its access to the upper parts of the watercourse with excellent spawning areas. By prolonging the riffles the gradients will be reduced to less than 5 ‰.

Furthermore, stones and gravel will be laid out over a 200 m section of the stream.
